About Us

Who we are & what we do

Marvic Textiles was founded by Victor Afia in 1938. His aim was to offer fabrics for decoration that were superior in style and quality, importing from France, Italy and Belgium. Today the London based business is run by his son Peter Afia who, starting with an in-house studio in the 1980s, offers exclusive Marvic designs and quality fabrics, many made in the UK, to the domestic and export markets. Indeed, Marvic is one of the few remaining privately owned British fabric houses and we pride ourselves on truly genuine personal service and attention to detail.

Marvic specialises in the design, production and distribution of the best luxury woven fabrics in the interiors industry and have become known for creating timeless classics of an enduring appeal.  We supply internationally acclaimed designers, discerning consumers worldwide, hotel groups, including Firmdale, Handpicked, Red Carnation and Rocco Forte and a number of leading 5-star hotels such as The Lanesborough, Le Bristol, Peninsula Beverley Hills, Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton Hotels around the world. Also many of our designs can be found in the country’s most famous ancestral homes including Buckingham Palace, Sandringham, Chatsworth and Althorp.

Our Design Studio

The Marvic Design Studio was established in 1986, comprising a talented in-house team who constantly work on new designs for both fabrics and wallpaper.  Inspiration is often taken from antique textiles of the 18th and 19th centuries to create timeless classics with a modern twist.  Our skilfully developed collections include exceptional quality upholstery woven fabrics, velvets and damasks, and we are also particularly well known for our unrivalled collections of Toiles de Jouy and moiré fabrics as well as luxurious crewels from Kashmir.  In recent years our contemporary collection has grown to include cutting-edge textured neutrals, dazzling silk sheers and fine embroideries.

Our in-house design studio enables us to offer a truly bespoke design service for both domestic and contract markets.  As part of this service we reproduce historic designs for some of the country’s most famous ancestral homes and can also adapt the colours or qualities of current Marvic designs to meet the specifications of an individual project.

Craftsmanship & Production

Marvic works with leading specialist British manufacturers and a number of hand-picked weavers in France, Belgium, Italy and India to create the finest range of high quality fabrics and wallpapers.  The hand-embroidered crewels are made in Kashmir, where craftsmen continue to employ traditional techniques dating back to the 18th century.

Our relationships with our manufacturers are integral to the success of our collections, and we undertake regular visits to supervise development and production.

Distribution

Our extensive collection of fabrics and wallpapers are held at our warehouse in West London.  From here, we dispatch all samples and orders.  The site is also home to our head office, as well as our design archive which dates back to when the company was founded in 1938.

By keeping all operations in one location, we can offer the personal, flexible service our customers enjoy and expect.  As a small, family-run company, we are in a position to react fast and efficiently to enquiries and specific requests.
